Wei Bi

Wei Bi

Wei Bi (simplified: 卫璧, traditional: 衛璧, pinyin: Wèi Bì, jyutping: wai6 bik1) was a disciple of Wulie who had romantic relationships with both Zhu Jiuzhen and Wu Qingying, participating in the plot to deceive Zhang Wuji.

Biography

Background

Wei Bi was the nephew of Zhu Changling, master of Zhu-Wu Linked Manor, and a disciple of Wulie. He was handsome and tall, wearing a thin light yellow satin robe that indicated he had some neili cultivation.

Romantic relationships

Wei Bi had romantic feelings for both his cousin Zhu Jiuzhen and his fellow disciple Wu Qingying. Unable to choose between them, he maintained relationships with both women. The three often traveled together, and while they appeared polite on the surface, the two women constantly competed for his attention with sharp words.

Plot against Zhang Wuji

Wei Bi participated in Zhu Changling’s scheme to deceive Zhang Wuji into revealing the location of Xie Xun and the Dragon Sabre. After the plot was exposed, Wei Bi joined in the pursuit of Zhang Wuji, forcing him to jump off a cliff.

Encounter with Yin Li

When Zhang Wuji encountered Yin Li (also known as Spider Girl), Wei Bi attacked them both. Zhang Wuji used his Nine Yang Divine Skill for the first time, repelling Wei Bi’s attack.

Death

In some adaptations, Wei Bi was killed by Wei Yixiao, the Green-Winged Bat King, who drained his blood. In the original novel, his fate is not explicitly stated.

Personality and traits

Wei Bi appeared gentle and refined on the surface but was actually cunning and ruthless. He was skilled at manipulation and used his relationships with Zhu Jiuzhen and Wu Qingying to maintain his position. He was a typical example of a “heartless cousin” character in Jin Yong’s works.
