Biography

Leader of Crane Brush Gate

Fan Yifei was the zhangmen of the Crane Brush Gate, one of the four major martial arts schools in Guandong (northeast China). The Four Great Schools of Guandong consisted of the Crane Brush Gate, the Fast Saber Gate (快刀门), the Wanma Manor (万马庄), and the Azure Dragon Gate (青龙门).

Investigation of Situ Heng’s death

When Situ Heng, the former leader of the Changle Guild, disappeared after being defeated by Shi Potian (who was mistaken for Shi Zhongyu), Fan Yifei joined forces with Gao Sanniangzi of Wanma Manor, Lü Zhengping of the Fast Saber Gate, and Feng Liang of the Azure Dragon Gate to travel from Guandong to the Central Plains to investigate Situ Heng’s death.

Encounter with Ding Busi

During their investigation, the four Guandong leaders encountered Ding Busi, who took offense at Gao Sanniangzi using the same type of weapon (flying locust stones) as he did. Ding Busi challenged the four leaders, and despite their combined efforts, they were unable to defeat him. They were saved by Shi Potian, who intervened on their behalf.

Journey to Xiake Island

Like many other martial artists, Fan Yifei eventually received a copper token (赏善罚恶令) from Zhang San and Li Si, the Reward Good and Punish Evil Messengers, and traveled to Xiake Island to study the martial arts inscriptions there.
